Series and parallel circuits — practice question

A student sets up a circuit using three identical lamps $P$, $Q$ and $R$, together with a cell and a switch. Lamp $P$ is arranged in series with lamp $R$, the switch and the cell. Lamp $Q$ is connected in parallel with both lamps $P$ and $R$.
(a)[1]

Draw the circuit diagram.

(b)[2]

After the switch is closed, the student sees that lamp $P$ glows dimly and lamps $Q$ and $R$ remain unlit. Table 4.1 shows five possible explanations for this. Put a tick in the boxes beside the two explanations that could be correct.
