Motion — practice question

Starting from rest, a skier moves in a straight line with uniform acceleration of $3.4\,\text{m s}^{-2}$ for $5.0\,\text{s}$.
(a)[2]

Calculate the skier's speed at the end of $5.0\,\text{s}$.

(b(i))[1]

After $5.0\,\text{s}$, the skier no longer accelerates and continues for another $10.0\,\text{s}$ at constant speed. State the size of the resultant force acting on the skier over these $10.0\,\text{s}$.

(b(ii))[3]

On Fig. 1.1, sketch the speed-time graph for the skier over the full $15.0\,\text{s}$.

(b(iii))[1]

State how the distance covered by the skier can be worked out from the speed-time graph.
