Fig. 5.1 illustrates two metal plates, A and B, with a radiant heater positioned halfway between them. Plate A is shiny, whereas plate B is dull black. Each plate has a piece of cork fixed to it with wax. At room temperature, the wax is solid and its melting point is 37 ^{\circ}C.
