Fig. 6.1 illustrates apparatus used to demonstrate some effects of energy transfer by radiation. The matt-black glass bulb, the shiny glass bulb and the spaces above the liquid in the tube each contain air. When switched on, the heater glows red. It is positioned the same distance from each bulb.
