Radioactivity — practice question

In Fig. 11.1, a beam of α-particles, β-particles and γ-rays is sent between two metal plates P and Q. The plates are parallel, and a large potential difference (p.d.) exists across them. Plate P carries a positive charge and plate Q carries a negative charge.
(a)[5]

On Fig. 11.1, sketch the route followed by each radiation while it is between the plates and once it has left them. Add the labels α, β and γ to the paths.

(b)[2]

State and explain one practical use of γ-rays.
