Fig. 1.1 shows a book labelled "PHYSICS" resting on a ruler marked from 0 to 30 centimetres, and the student records the length. length of book = 19.9 cm. This measurement is not accurate. Describe two ways that the student can improve the accuracy of his measurement.

The student wants to work out the average (mean) thickness of one sheet of paper in the book. Describe how he can measure such a tiny distance using only a ruler.

Calculate the weight of the book. Give the unit as well.
