Motion — practice question

Fig. 1.1 shows a trolley moving down a ramp. A strip of paper tape is fixed to the trolley. The tape passes through a machine that marks a dot on it every 0.02 s. Fig. 1.2 shows part of the tape.
(a(i))[1]

State how the pattern of dots on the tape indicates that the trolley moved at constant speed.

(a(ii))[2]

At point P the ramp has a larger angle $x$. Describe and explain how the motion of the trolley changes. description explanation

(b)[2]

Fig. 1.3 gives the speed-time graph for this trolley. Using Fig. 1.3, calculate the distance travelled by the trolley in the first 0.5 s.

(c)[3]

Fig. 1.4 shows a metal ball at rest inside a tube of liquid. It is released and attains terminal velocity at point X. Explain how the ball moves as it falls from rest to point X. Use ideas of force and acceleration in your answer.
