Forces — practice question

A rock climber, with a total mass of 62 kg, is maintaining horizontal equilibrium against a vertical cliff. She is pulling on a rope that is fastened to the top of the cliff while her feet press on the cliff face. Fig. 3.1 depicts her position. The diagram shows the cliff, rope, rock climber, centre of mass, a distance of 0.90 m from the cliff to the centre of mass, a horizontal distance of 1.2 m, and the rope at an angle of $60^\circ$ to the horizontal.
(a)[1]

Calculate the total weight of the climber.

(b)[2]

State the two requirements for equilibrium.

(c(i))[2]

Calculate the moment about her feet due to her weight.

(c(ii))[3]

Determine the tension acting in the rope.
