Energy, work and power — practice question

Fig. 3.1 illustrates an aircraft on the deck of an aircraft carrier. The aircraft starts from rest and accelerates along the deck. At take-off, its speed is $75\,\text{m s}^{-1}$. The aircraft has a mass of $9500\,\text{kg}$.
(a)[3]

Calculate the kinetic energy of the aircraft at take-off.

(b)[2]

Calculate the resultant force acting on the aircraft as it accelerates. Assume that all of the kinetic energy at take-off comes from the work done on the aircraft by the catapult.
