Labels shown: ammeter, cylinder, trolley, track. The trolley is let go from the position shown in Fig. 8.1. It moves through the coil from right to left. Then the trolley moves back from left to right. Its highest speed is smaller when it returns from left to right. The plastic cylinder has no effect on any magnetic field. A magnet is fixed onto the trolley.
