Electrical quantities — practice question

A student is carrying out an investigation into electrical heaters used in the school laboratory for warming beakers of water. Each heater is a 12 V heater and all have the same power rating. The student believes that some heaters are more efficient than others. Design an experiment to compare the speed at which the heaters raise the temperature of water to boiling point. The apparatus available to the student is: five electrical heaters; beakers; a supply of water; a 12 V power supply with suitable leads. Any other apparatus that is usually found in a school laboratory may also be used.
(main)[7]

Design an experiment to compare how quickly the heaters raise the temperature of water to boiling point. In your plan: name any extra apparatus needed; describe briefly how the investigation is carried out, including the measurements you make; identify the main variables that must remain constant; draw a suitable table, with column headings, to show how you would present your readings (no readings need to be entered); explain how you use the results to draw a conclusion.
