Electric circuits — practice question

As shown in Fig. 7.1, two identical resistors, R$_1$ and R$_2$, are connected to a 24 V battery. Each resistor has a resistance of 50 $\Omega$.
(a)[1]

Calculate the total resistance of R$_1$ and R$_2$ for the arrangement shown in Fig. 7.1.

(b)[3]

Show that the current in the circuit is roughly 0.25 A.

(c)[1]

Determine the potential difference (p.d.) between the ends of R$_1$.

(d)[3]

Calculate the power transferred in R$_1$.

(e)[1]

A student makes a different circuit using R$_1$, R$_2$ and the battery. The resistors R$_1$ and R$_2$ are arranged so that their combined resistance is as small as it can be. Draw a circuit diagram to show the way R$_1$ and R$_2$ are linked to the battery.
