Fig. 8.1 presents the electrical symbols for several circuit components.

For every electrical symbol, identify the circuit component it represents. Draw a line from each electrical symbol to the name of the circuit component. Components: fuse, lamp, buzzer, thermistor.

Calculate the potential difference (p.d.) across the fixed resistor in the circuit.

(b(ii))[1]

State the name of the instrument used to measure potential difference.

(b(iii))[1]

Show how the student connects the device named in (b)(ii) to measure the p.d. across the fixed resistor. Add the correct symbol and connections on Fig. 8.2.
