State the meaning of quantisation of charge.
The charged parallel plates shown in Fig. 7.1 create a uniform electric field between the plates. Outside the space between them, the electric field is zero. A uniform magnetic field is applied in the region between the plates so that a beam of protons passes undeviated between the plates. State and explain the direction of the magnetic field between the plates.
The magnetic flux density between the plates is now larger. On Fig. 7.1, sketch the route taken by the protons between the plates.
