Explain the advantages cross-pollination gives a plant species when compared with self-pollination.

Many of the food plants most important to humans rely on insect pollinators, including the honeybee, $Apis\;mellifera$. A honeybee is shown in Fig. 7.1.

Using Fig. 7.2, explain which crop is most affected and which crop is least affected by the drop in honeybees.

Suggest reasons for the decline in honeybee populations.
